TEXTE ANGLAIS CORPS TIS
Five to a Body
Dialogue with five, the drawing chosen as a communication medium, the body spatialized from every angle: fragmented, woven, knitted, translucent, opaque, split up. It’s a trip in balance between the fragile limits of the virtual transmutation where the Human reveals his inner armour and the protective skin stretched on the white page of the imaginary.
The book-box gives paging freedom, everybody reconstructs his book, determines the reading of a new story. Those images of multiple bodies give us the pleasure of holding in our hands a cosmogony, a universal collection of our desires; the human side gives an opportunity to be seen without restraint, the book takes place in our memories, the library has been enlarged.
This exchange between five people is rooted in a previous artistic experience: Icons and Ideas, a collective and virtual work made in 2011 with the following artists: Mary Corey March (USA), Lina Puerta, (Colombia-USA) Simone Stoll, (Germany), Sophie Menuet, (France) and Jordan Kraemer (USA-Anthropologist).
In this new project, Sophie Menuet proposes to continue this collective work with the following artists: Joyce Kubat, Lina Puerta, Simone Stoll, Delphine Hayat, and to exchange an imagery body to be built in a plastic shape. For two years the artists are going to exchange by means of a cyber notebook.
Joyce Kubat combines the Pink Sweaters series composed of wefts and meshing with Sophie Menuet’s drawings.
Lina Puerta gathers in her sprawling vegetal painting Bloom a Sophie Menuet’s drawing Mailles.
Simone Stoll uses red colour on her Water Colors, like a circular scratch from Sophie Menuet’s drawing Grappes.
Delphine Hayat composes sceneries of coloured embroideries in relation to the works of Joyce Kubat, Lina Puerta, Simone Stoll and Sophie Menuet.
Sophie Menuet carries out drawings in relation to each artist. She paints, superimposes, erases partially her drawings. She uses digital to reveal the drawing of the other artists. This transparency reveals some memory fragments from every series to combine them in a single piece of art.
They help us to perceive a body/puzzle to be rebuilt.
